How Does StoryLearning VIP Work?

StoryLearning VIP is a 10-week coaching programme where our team of professional native-speaker coaches will help you reach your next breakthrough. 

This isn't random conversation practice like you'd get with online tutors, or the overwhelming 'sink or swim' approach of immersion programs. You get a proven systematic method combined with expert coaching.

The programme is designed to fit around your schedule, no matter your time zone.

In fact, personal sessions with your coach are arranged around your personal availability, which means you can fully participate in StoryLearning VIP… however busy you are!

The programme works in combination with our Uncovered course.

One level of Uncovered is included in the package. After enrolling, we’ll find the level that’s right for you.

(Don’t worry if you’re not sure. You can change the level if it’s not right for you, in consultation with your coach!)

Together with your coach, you will study the curriculum of Uncovered in 10 weeks.

You are expected to study the course material by yourself – we recommend one hour per day. 

On top of that, you will meet with your coach 2 times per week throughout the programme.

The magic of personal coaching is that you don’t have to stick doggedly to the material.

Your coach will ensure you are always challenged and learning to your full potential. 
With hours of personal coaching lessons to practice speaking, unlimited feedback and corrections, and a supportive cohort of fellow VIP language learners, you WILL finish the 10-week programme with your new language transformed.

    What’s the time commitment for VIP?
StoryLearning VIP lasts for 10 weeks. During this time you will have 2 weekly personal sessions with your coach, which are arranged according to your personal availability.

In addition to this, you should be prepared to study the course material for 1 hour a day.
    Why can’t I hire just a language tutor online instead?
To properly learn a new language, you have to get many things right:

  • The learning method
  • Your personal commitment
  • Speaking practice that complements your learning
  • How you direct your study time
  • Access to quick feedback

    How does StoryLearning VIP compare to immersion programmes or college courses?
StoryLearning VIP is a much more sustainable, affordable and effective approach than going on an immersion retreat or joining a night course at Berlitz or your local community college.

    Why not just do an immersion programme instead?
Immersion programs cost significantly more, require weeks away from your life, and use a 'sink or swim' approach that overwhelms most students.

VIP gives you structured immersion with expert guidance, fits your schedule, and costs a fraction of traditional immersion schools - with better results because you're not drinking from a fire hose.
    Will I get to practise speaking too?
Absolutely! You will have 2 hours per week of dedicated speaking practice. However, unlike regular tutoring, your tutor will help you practise what you’ve been learning from the course material. This creates a “learning loop”, which is what makes coaching so effective.
    How does scheduling work?
As you have personal sessions with your tutor, you can arrange all your learning at a time that suits you. During enrollment, you will let us know which days and times you are free. We will match you with a coach who is available during those times.

Once you’ve been paired with your coach, you’ll receive a special private booking link to book your sessions with them.
    Do I need to have the Uncovered course to join StoryLearning VIP?
The coaching programme follows the curriculum of Uncovered, and one level of the course is included in your VIP package. You may choose whether to repeat a level you have already studied, or whether to begin a new level. Your coach will help you determine what’s right for you.

If you choose the Platinum package, you’ll get access to four levels of Uncovered and work through one level during each of the four VIP cohorts you complete in 2024.
    Is this coaching suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. StoryLearning VIP is suitable for complete beginners, or advanced learners. You will follow the curriculum of Uncovered that matches your level.
    What level is StoryLearning VIP for?
All levels. Our StoryLearning curriculum stretches from complete Beginner to Advanced… and even Mastery level!

When you join VIP, you select the level you feel is most appropriate. Then, in consultation with your coach, you can confirm this at the start of the programme.
     What kind of Spanish will my coach speak?
If you're learning Spanish, we work with two varieties:

  • Iberian Spanish (from Spain)
  • Neutral Latin American 

We encourage you not to worry too much about varieties of Spanish during the learning process. By far the most important thing is that you make a breakthrough in your own learning, and your coach will help you achieve that!
     Do I get to pick my coach?
We will pair you with a coach who we believe best fits your learning needs, both for time zone / availability, and, in the case of Spanish, for the particular variety.
     Will my coach teach me my new language or do I also need to find a tutor?
Everything you need to make a breakthrough is included in the VIP programme, including learning material, coaching and speaking practise.
     What kind of guarantee do you offer?
If, for whatever reason, you're unhappy at the end of the 10 weeks, we'll offer you another 10-week VIP package FREE!

All we ask is that you demonstrate that you've fully completed the coursework, and you'll receive a complimentary access pass to the next VIP cohort.
     Can I pause the programme if I can't keep up?
No, the programme is designed to be the length it is precisely because the best results come from an intensive period of study. 

However, we understand that life gets in the way sometimes. That’s why we offer a 2-week “grace period” at the end of the 10 weeks to use any coaching sessions you haven’t been able to take.

     If I join the Platinum package, what dates will the rest of the cohorts run on?

•   You'll begin your first cohort on April 4th, 2024
•   After that you'll start a new cohort once every 3 months until the end of your platinum package

If you choose the Platinum package, you’ll get access to four VIP cohorts - that's one whole year of language coaching! - so you can finally achieve fluency in your target language.

We’ll have a short break of 2-3 weeks between cohorts so you’ll have plenty of time to catch up on missed lessons, review what you’ve learned and of course, take a well earned break!
