How it works
How does StoryLearning VIP work?
StoryLearning VIP is a 10-week coaching programme where our team of professional native-speaker coaches will help you reach your next breakthrough.
The programme is designed to fit around your schedule, no matter your time zone. Personal sessions with your coach are arranged around your personal availability, so you can fully participate in VIP however busy you are.
The programme works in combination with our Uncovered course. One level of Uncovered is included in the package. After enrolling, we'll find the level that's right for you. (Don't worry if you're not sure. You can change the level in consultation with your coach.)
Together with your coach you'll work through the curriculum of Uncovered in 10 weeks. You're expected to study the material by yourself, around an hour per day. On top of that, you meet your coach twice a week throughout the programme.
The magic of personal coaching is that you don't have to stick doggedly to the material. Your coach will ensure you are always challenged and learning to your full potential.
With hours of personal coaching lessons to practise speaking, unlimited feedback and corrections, and a supportive cohort of fellow VIP language learners, you WILL finish the 10-week programme with your new language transformed.

Who are our coaches?

To become a StoryLearning coach, you need to be exceptional. This is easy to say, but we mean it. (If you've learned with us before, you already know this.)
First, you must have a university-level language teaching qualification. Without this, you don't even get through the door.
Next, you must have years of extensive, real-world teaching experience. This means you understand how students actually learn.
During interviews, coaches give demonstration lessons to members of our StoryLearning team who pose as students. That's how much effort we put into looking for talent.
Lastly, we train our coaches on the StoryLearning method. Only once a coach has demonstrated a deep understanding of story-based language learning do we accept them onto the programme.

Frequently asked questions
What's the time commitment for VIP?
StoryLearning VIP lasts for 10 weeks. During this time you will have 2 weekly personal sessions with your coach, arranged according to your personal availability. In addition, you should be prepared to study the course material for 1 hour a day.
Why can't I hire just a language tutor online instead?
To properly learn a new language, you have to get many things right: the learning method, your personal commitment, speaking practice that complements your learning, how you direct your study time, and access to quick feedback. StoryLearning VIP works because it gives you the complete structure you need to succeed with your new language.
Will I get to practise speaking too?
Absolutely. You will have 2 hours per week of dedicated speaking practice. Unlike regular tutoring, your tutor will help you practise what you've been learning from the course material. This creates a "learning loop", which is what makes coaching so effective.
How does scheduling work?
You have personal sessions with your tutor, so you can arrange all your learning at a time that suits you. During enrolment, you'll let us know which days and times you're free. We'll match you with a coach who's available during those times. Once you've been paired, you'll receive a private booking link to book your sessions.
Do I need to have the Uncovered course to join VIP?
The coaching programme follows the curriculum of Uncovered, and one level of the course is included in your VIP package. You may choose whether to repeat a level you've already studied, or to begin a new one. Your coach will help you decide. If you choose the Emerald package, you get access to four levels of Uncovered and work through one level during each of the four VIP cohorts.
Is this coaching suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. VIP is suitable for complete beginners or advanced learners. You'll follow the curriculum of Uncovered that matches your level.
What level is StoryLearning VIP for?
All levels. Our StoryLearning curriculum stretches from complete Beginner to Advanced, and even Mastery. When you join VIP, you select the level you feel is most appropriate. Then, in consultation with your coach, you can confirm this at the start of the programme.

What kind of Spanish will my coach speak?
If you're learning Spanish, we work with two varieties: Iberian Spanish (from Spain) and Neutral Latin American. We encourage you not to worry too much about varieties of Spanish during the learning process. The most important thing is that you make a breakthrough in your own learning, and your coach will help you achieve that.
Do I get to pick my coach?
We pair you with a coach who best fits your learning needs: time zone, availability, and (in the case of Spanish) the particular variety.
Will my coach teach me my new language, or do I also need a tutor?
Everything you need to make a breakthrough is included in the VIP programme: learning material, coaching, and speaking practice.
What kind of guarantee do you offer?
If, for whatever reason, you're unhappy at the end of the 10 weeks, we'll offer you another 10-week VIP package free. Demonstrate that you've fully completed the coursework, and you'll receive a complimentary access pass to the next VIP cohort.
Can I pause the programme if I can't keep up?
No. The programme is the length it is precisely because the best results come from an intensive period of study. We do understand life gets in the way, so we offer a 2-week "grace period" at the end of the 10 weeks to use any coaching sessions you haven't been able to take.
