StoryLearning VIP

VIP is a significant investment, but it has accelerated my learning at a rate faster than any classroom.

This is the first program I have used that offers a thoughtfully structured route beyond the intermediate plateau. After one year, my level matches students who have studied for six years in a traditional classroom.

More importantly, I can hold everyday conversations with native speakers, watch films with French subtitles, and approach new languages with confidence. I also gained a great friend in my VIP coach. The program has given me structure, skills, and, most crucially, the confidence to keep pushing toward fluency.

It has been my lifelong dream to speak Spanish. In each of the different courses I took, or apps I tried, I'd learn something, like a piece of a puzzle. I ended up knowing a lot of puzzle pieces, words, verbs, a few basic sentences, but I still could not speak Spanish.

The VIP course systematically builds and puts together all the different pieces you need to be able to speak Spanish.

After my first cohort, I went to a party and met a lady who did not speak any English. We sat there for several hours, talking and laughing in Spanish. I am totally delighted with my progress and with VIP. There is not a week that goes by that I don't say, "This course is genius. It's absolutely genius."

If I picked up a French book, I would have to be looking up every 4th, 5th word. I was very frustrated because there were authors I wanted to read in French, and I didn't know how I was ever going to approach that.

My grammar is organised now. It's opened a whole new world of how other cultures express themselves. I want to keep doing this for a very, very, very long time.

I would recommend it because it absolutely works. I've tried self-study, I've tried different things. It's a way to hold yourself accountable, it gives you a way to know that you are doing the right thing instead of just winging it.

Prior to using the StoryLearning VIP approach to learning Spanish, I had been stuck at the intermediate plateau for longer than I'd like to admit, several years.

The most tremendously valuable part for me is having my twice weekly sessions with my tutor. Victor is extremely patient, and knowing my strengths and weaknesses helps me concentrate on particular skills and areas to improve, notably in conversational speaking.

I would heartily recommend StoryLearning VIP to others. Having a tutor twice weekly keeps me accountable toward my learning objectives, and gives me someone to talk with in Spanish, and in English when necessary, to explain grammar rules, turns of phrases, or just general concepts I need to concentrate on.

I think I was at the beginning of a B1 learner. Now I am much more comfortable speaking. I'm not sure I always get it right, but I am definitely more comfortable with trying, especially since it's twice a week, and Ahmed, my teacher, has been wonderful.

It's a sense of accomplishment and affirmation that I can still learn new things at almost 70 years old. I have a lot of Italian friends, and now I can join in the conversation with them. I plan on spending a lot more time in Italy, and this makes me feel much more comfortable in that decision.

I would definitely recommend the VIP program to others. You're learning when you're having fun.

I attended the Defense Language Institute and learned Japanese back in 1999. I tried self-studying Russian on and off for years with little traction. Russian speakers are hard to find in my part of the US.

That feeling when the first thing that comes into my head is a response in the target language, not "I have the thought in English and now I have to change it", that's nice, and you can't do that by yourself.

It was a well thought out product. I feel like I got a lot out of it.

I wanted to learn Chinese to be able to communicate with my in-laws, with my wife's extended family. Chinese culture is very family-oriented, very collectivist. I knew a huge amount of vocabulary, but I couldn't put it into a sentence.

My coach, Katherine, has been amazing in terms of helping piece together all these random things I knew to actually piece the language together. It's retained, unlike when I was using language learning apps, where I'd forget certain words a few weeks later.

With a real person, they can stop what you're doing and practise that tone with you, and then move on, whereas with an app you get stuck and frustrated. I have actually recommended Story Learning to other people. Anyone can learn a language, you just have to put in the time and have a program that works for you.

I was at a lower intermediate level, approximately B1, in German. I've definitely widened my vocabulary. I'm probably getting on for a B2 level now, which I'm very happy with, because fluent speaking is something I'm really working at.

I'm very happy at the progress. It's only ten weeks, and I'm pleased with how far I've got in the short time.

My tutor has been very good, I like him, it's good fun, and I think the speaking activities are helpful. I would probably recommend it for people who don't have any other options for speaking German and talking directly to another person in that language.

One of the big motivators was the fact that my boyfriend's friends and family know zero English. I was in a bit of a rut with my Italian, doubting my abilities and feeling like "I should be much better by now".

The sessions with my coach were really enjoyable, and he was very encouraging. The guided repetition with feedback is gold.

A course alone will never teach you to speak a language. You absolutely need a more rounded approach, which is exactly what VIP is.

StoryLearning VIP has propelled my Italian forward immensely. It is great. Listening, reading, and doing the exercises in each chapter works.

I am enrolled in the VIP program, working through Italian Uncovered (Level 5: Advanced). I've already done levels 1 to 4. I love it.
